God's Intellectual Property

Image
I heard an interesting idea today. Colin Dye, senior pastor in Kensington Temple, London, said that supporting liberalism without honouring the One from whom the principle came, was stealing God's intellectual property! An interesting idea! He was referring to the much-touted ideals of freedom and human rights, and of resisting the rule of hegemony. In our secular society, whilst the principle is right, the application is relative, severed from the context of a Maker with an overall purpose for Mankind and for individuals. It can have whatever content and application suits us. For example, redefining gender as something fluid, or with multiple forms can be seen as liberation from the constrains of a hegemonic society where individuals' rights are supressed. But if liberation is kept within God's perspective, it cannot involve a negation or blurring of the male and female genders He has created. Liberation is to become what God has intended you to be, not something other.
